Good Morning Gators!
It’s a miserable rainy cold winter day but that won’t stop breakfast. We arrived at opening. I dropped Diane in front and went to find a parking spot. While she was getting a table I was getting soaked on my walk from the car to the restaurant. This photo was from my last review.
The little Goat is part of a trio (soon to be a quad) of restaurants co owned by Chef Stephanie Izard. More about her here. There is also and older review of Duck Duck Goat here. At some point I will do a follow up on it.
Little Goat is a clean, modern, woody, goat filled place with contemporary music playing in the background. It has a couple of things that my regular readers know that I am not a fan of like communal seating and counter service. Restaurants should be aware that 1/2 of the population are introverts and a lot of them do not want to sit shoulder to shoulder with a stranger.
Coffee and menus were waiting when I took my seat. We had a fantastic server. Not only is Joan a server she is also a Bread Baker, Dog lover, and a Mushroom Hunter. 10 The Coffee was a bit lack luster. A bit weak for my taste. I was a little surprised by this. 7 The menu is cute and as I prefer not a ton of selections. It didn’t take long to choose.
We started with Crumpets. (How British of us)
The Crumpets were fresh from the fryer. HOT and a bit greasy. They were crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. More savory than sweet. They were a great start. 9
THIS LITTLE PIGGY WENT TO CHINA
sesame cheddar biscuit, sunny side eggs, sichuan pork sausage, chili garlic chive sauce, gooseberries
The Chili Garlic Sauce is a punch in the mouth. I suggest that you not take a big taste of the sauce on it’s own like I did. It is spicy sweet and well seasoned. The menu description said eggs but it was actually egg as in 1. It was about as perfectly cooked as a Sunny Side Up Egg gets. The Sausage was quite flavorful. Spiced right, and not overly salty. It was a bit overcooked. The biscuit is baking powdery good. Crunchy exterior soft light interior. This was a pretty good entree 8
Osaka street food with pork belly
A thick Savory Pancake with Bonito Flakes. It looked alive in person. Sea foodie flavor with lots of Umami. This was such an unusual combination of flavors I couldn’t decide if I loved it or hated it. I decided not to rate it. You’ll just have to try it for yourself.
Chocolate Chip Pancakes
Light Fluffy Puffy Delightful! Just the right amount of chocolate chips. Served with Chocolate Butter and house syrup that tasted like a combination of real and fake Maple Syrup. 8
Well that’s it kids. A good visit.
As for us we’re off to our next adventure.
